because we are small and independently owned, we can be innovators. we can be flexible. and we can offer a wider selection and more options than our competitors.
not only do we have a bountiful case of fresh seafood daily, we can fillet whole fish in store or custom grind for holidays. we have an ever-expanding file of recipes in the store and here on our site. we also offer a full complement of made-to-order, easy-to-heat take-home gourmet meals. and if you come by our store at lunchtime, we’ll happily serve you the daily special or cook to order any item in our case.

shucking oysters on this early april friday morning i popped the top shell off a nice plump wellfleet and i experienced a sight so frightening that my knees buckled...i called my wife who is a photographer and told her to get down to the market —fast! looking down on one of thousands of oysters i've shucked in my life, never has one looked back up at me!
we've seen a lot of weird looking creatures over the years here at the market, monkfish that look like jabba the hutt, 6 foot long pacific octopus, giant geoduck clams, monstrous toothy wolfish with a mouth full of molars, but my vote for the wildest looking fish has to go to the john dory...

our story
procuring and preparing the finest quality seafood is more than a job, it’s a way of life!
founder mike monahan can be found most days behind the counter of his kerrytown shop offering tried and true recipes or dispensing advice on the best seafood to add to his bouillabaisse base. but on the rare occasion when he’s not there, you can likely find him fishing a local lake. for mike, procuring and preparing the finest quality seafood is more than a job, it’s a way of life!
