{"id":3965,"date":"2013-05-09t18:16:03","date_gmt":"2013-05-09t22:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/?p=3965"},"modified":"2016-11-23t16:04:13","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23t16:04:13","slug":"thai-spicy-basil-shrimp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/thai-spicy-basil-shrimp\/","title":{"rendered":"thai spicy basil shrimp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>this recipe is taken directly from our good friend rachel&#8217;s blog <a href=\"http:\/\/edibleobsession.blogspot.com\/2009\/07\/thai-spicy-basil-shrimp.html\" target=\"_blank\">edible obsession<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>serves 2<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 lb. fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined<\/li>\n<li>7-8 garlic cloves<\/li>\n<li>7-8 thai red chili pepper (or adjust to your preference)- (rachel likes it spicy! you may want to use less.)<\/li>\n<li>1 cup yellow onion, thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup carrot, cut in matchstick pieces<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup green\/red\/yellow bell pepper, julienned<\/li>\n<li>2 cups basil leaves, loosely packed<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp oyster sauce<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp light soy sauce (or fish sauce)<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup water<\/li>\n<li>ground white (or black) pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>pound garlic cloves and chili peppers together using mortar and pestle. or you can mince them together using a knife.<\/p>\n<p>heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. add chili garlic mixture and stir until lightly browned and fragrant.<\/p>\n<p>add prepared shrimps and stir well to evenly mix everything together. once the shrimps start to turn pink &#8211; but still translucent in the middle, add onions, carrots, and bell peppers. stir to get vegetables cooked real quickly, you want them to be a bit crisp, not soft.<\/p>\n<p>then, add oyster sauce, light soy sauce, sugar, and ground white\/black pepper.<\/p>\n<p>stir quickly to mix the seasonings into ingredients. then add water, and stir to get everything coated with sauce.<\/p>\n<p>turn off the heat, add the basil leaves and give it a good stir. transfer to serving dish. great over rice!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>this dish is everything a good thai dish should be: simple, lots of fresh flavors with tangy thai basil and peppers, yet the flavors are subtle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":6101,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[21,124],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3965"}],"collection":[{"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/4"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3965"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3965\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/6101"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3965"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3965"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"\/\/www.bulkreeftv.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3965"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
